Volunteer Tax Program
2026 Tax Clinic is open from March 4 to April 29.
We offer a volunteer-based tax preparation program for LOW INCOME seniors with SIMPLE returns ONLY.
We are NOT tax specialists or accountants and cannot answer your detailed tax questions. Those must be referred to the Canada Revenue Agency.
Tax Eligibility Questions:
- MUST be 60+ years of age or 55+ with disability.
- MUST have income under $40,000/yr for singles or $55,000/yr for couples.
- MUST come into the office to drop off and pick up your tax forms. Couples MUST come in together at drop off.
- New participants MUST visit our office to complete forms and verify their identity.
Tax forms:
This year, we encourage seniors to download the tax forms to be filled out at home and dropped off during our scheduled hours.
Starting March 4, 2026, volunteers who process tax returns will be available on:
- Wednesdays (March 4 – April 29) | 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at 155 Asher Road, Rutland.
EXCLUSIONS: We cannot do returns for the following:
Our volunteers can only prepare simple tax returns. We cannot do returns for the following:
- Any self-employment income
- Interest and/or investment income greater than $1,200
- Capital gains or losses: on dispositions of shares, stocks, assets
- Business and/or rental income and expenses
- Ownership of foreign property
- Sale of home in the last 12 months
- Any employment expenses
- Deceased persons or spouses
- Foreign pensions
- Bankruptcy files
- Total income above $40,000 for single people
- Total income above $55,000 for couples
