Better at Home
Better at Home provides community-based services from volunteers, contractors and from our local non-profit organization. Better at Home offers affordable non-medical home support services to seniors in Kelowna, West Kelowna, Lake Country and Peachland. Examples of services provided include:
- Friendly visiting,
- Light yard work,
- Minor home repairs
- Light housekeeping
- grocery shopping
This program is funded by the Government of British Columbia and managed by the United Way of the Lower Mainland.
An interactive computer mentoring program with basic skills training provided by volunteers, at our office location. Seniors can learn basic skills for using tablets, iPads and smartphones. This program will allow participants to learn more about new technology as well as being able to interact and build connections with other seniors.
Information & Referral
Seniors Outreach receives referrals/requests from seniors, community professionals, family, neighbors and caregivers and refers callers to our own programs and other services in the community.
ElderGuide is our directory of services for seniors in the Kelowna area, created for our community. It provides valuable information about a variety of issues including home care and support, meals and food services, transportation, social options and much more. It is available in our office for a fee or Online.
Regional Housing Program
Drop in Tuesdays
Scheduled appointments for assistance is available to review housing options, provide low income housing applications and assist with SAFER rent subsidy forms. Our weekly drop-in session is every Tuesday from 1-3. Please call us at 2508616180 to schedule an appointment.
Housing Options Information Sessions
Provides seniors, and families and friends the opportunity to learn about various levels of care for seniors housing and resource options available to them in the community. We strive to provide accurate, pertinent information for seniors and their families. We hold monthly housing session. Seniors Regional Housing Directory
This guide is a comprehensive directory of Kelowna housing providers, their amenities, services, location and costs. The housing directory is available anytime online, or in print through our office for a fee. See More on our Housing Directory.
Seniors 'Coffee' Breaks
Provides a social opportunity for seniors to meet other seniors in their own neighbourhoods, and make connections. Volunteer hosts welcome participants. Drop-in at any group; no fee or registration required. See Community Events for locations and times , or contact us for more information.
